one does not need to know all of the wrong ways to go about something, to stumble upon one right way

Consider a colony of ants, mapping a territory, for resource.

The ants are busy – much resource is found, and consumed.

Mapping and consumption continues. Resource fades, to aroma.

The ants need more.

After a while, a new ant, on a new path, stumbles upon substantive new resource.

New ant: lads, lads, over here – look at this!

Other ants: sigh —what would you know? —have you even walked down all of these other paths?
